I recommend this unit as one of the best GPS units around the time of this writing. All opinions and brand preferences aside, is the only one to offer any other manufacturer at the time of writing that can be transferred from your car to your pocket and back when needed. TomTom VIA 1435TM 4.3-Inch Portable Bluetooth GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic & Maps
VIA 1435T GPS TomTom is very helpful and I love the interface. It is very compact and the holder of the cup is connected to the unit, which could be more or less depending on how you feel about the place and move / remove the GPS every time you park your car or if you plan to walk or use cycling.
Let me give you a good ======= =======
* CUSTOM DISPLAY (GUI) - The graphical interface is very good and very sensitive. It also allows users to customize the settings for how to choose which type of icon to display the location and type of voice that wants to talk to you. You can also switch between the brightness of day and night. And if you go online, there are additional features that you can purchase for download to the device with the voices of characters like "Lucas", "Darth Vader" and "Burt Reynolds", among others.
* THE VOICE OF AUDIO - The location of the TomTom's voice is loud and clear, which helps, because I realized that the connection is maintained on the windshield more than me.
FOCUS DISPLAY * - You can change the left or right handed use.
* Blue Tooth - Connected to my Droid (1) and the information can easily download in touch.
* Alerts - Audible alerts can be configured to notify you when you exceed the speed limit and red light cameras. I'm not sure if you have to pay for the current red light cameras are added after setting the TOMTOM 1435T, but when I was driving an alert went out, which scared me and my friend, LOL. And you can set how long before it reaches the camera before the alarm is activated (ie, 15 seconds, etc.).
* Two cables - This is even more of a minus sign, you need a cable to connect to your computer and you have another power and traffic updates in the car. The cigarette has a cable car built in antenna that collects information on your route lasted.
* SAFETY MANUAL - This is really awesome! The TomTom includes first aid and car repair guides and maintenance to be used in emergencies and the icon for "help" will give you options to a unit called immediately, or go to the nearest repair shop, hospital, fire and police stations, pharmacies and dentists. And if you select "walk" can choose "public transport", which guides you to the nearest metro station.
* SUPPORT - had to email support about the confusion about the "My TomTom" and "TomTom Home" and responded to 24 hours. See below.
======= ======== Now, the bad
* MUST HAVE INTERNET - The TomTom should be able to connect to the Internet to catch up and for maps and other things. I think the antenna on the power cord from automobile traffic and other updates not only because the manual states that are connected to the computer and install the "My TomTom" for map updates. Then you should have a computer with a USB port and an Internet connection to download the latest updates and all other resources, like the voices of the characters that you might want.
* Hands-free calling - Although you can say "Call," which go to the menu call, the device does not recognize the names in your contacts list and scroll through the list and then say the number that corresponds to to make a call. This is useful while driving, unless a passenger makes it so you can not really use this feature unless you are parked.
CALL FOR * Audio - Audio recording of a call is very poor. This may be my fault Droid, but the use of this device to make a call and I could barely hear the other side! And I had so much volume per unit volume and my droid BT appeared to the fullest.
* Menus - You must give up the menus before hitting the "Done" button to return to the map screen. This is a pain because every time you change a setting, you have to go back through the menus.
* MI vs TOMTOM TomTom HOME - TomTom's my program that helps your TomTom device to communicate with the computer. Once you get online tells you to download the "TomTom Home", which is supposed to help manage and install TomTom maps, services, prepare trips and his team. Unfortunately, "TomTom Home" is not compatible with the 1435T and it is not necessary. I discovered this by e-mail technical support when he said "device not found" even if the unit was connected to the computer.
* Head Unit - No lights on the charger so you do not know if it is loaded from the computer or a cigarette lighter of your car. This is not a big deal unless you plan to use the device for walking, for example on holiday, and have to charge the unit in a hotel room.
Anyway, well not really a true hands-free device - should not be anyway - I think TomTom through 1435T is very good. I like that you can customize, giving a personal touch, and the fact that much more added to the drive you just maps and directions (eg, first aid and repair manuals). TomTom VIA, you are never alone on the road (or at least it feels that way).
